Textbooks may supplement but not replace the laboratory's written procedures for testing or examining specimens. This STANDARD is not met as evidenced by: Based on record review, observation and interview, the laboratory written procedure for manual coverslipping did not reflect actual practice in the laboratory. Findings: 1. The laboratory written procedure for manual coverslipping of slides states that the coverslipping procedure is conducted under a fume hood, but it was observed that there was no fume hood in the laboratory. 3. This was confirmed with the histotechnician during interview the morning of the survey.
